Code for America Austin Geeks hack it up at the CFA hackathon

What happens when you put 50 geeks in a house for eight hours with free soda, pizza, and beer?

If you said passionate debates about whether an Imperial Star Destroyer or the USS Enterprise 1701-E would win in a space battle, you're right. If you said hot-and-heavy rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock -- you're also right. BUT, if you said find creative ways to use recently released gigabytes of data released by the City of Austin to help make the city a better place... Shazam, you're also right!

This inspiring nerdbomb happened on February 25, 2012 at the Conjunctured co-working space in East Austin, hosted by Code For America and its three Austin Ambassadors: Emily Wright Moore, Joe Merante, and Aurelio Tinio. CFA brought together some of Austin's best tech gurus and city officials to collaboratively work on three useful Austin web apps -- and I was lucky enough to be there!
